Controller Remapping

TeknoParrot mapping is done on a game by game basis within the TeknoParrot GUI. Dea7h's automation build uses custom profiles that are stored: \Tools\Scripts\config\default\Teknoparrot\UserProfiles. Any changes made to controls will have to be saved to this folder location. It is recommended you create a backup of this folder location before overwriting any files.

  1. Launch TeknoParrot -> Install Location\TeknoParrotUI.exe
  2. Select a game on the list -> Configure Controls
  3. Once configured, navigate to Install Location\User Profiles
  4. Locate the config file for the game you just configured. Copy this config file to \Tools\Scripts\config\default\Teknoparrot\UserProfiles, overwriting the currently existing file

Change video resolution

Note - changing resolution can cause issues with aiming accuracy/aim drift. Use at your own discretion

Game settings are done on a game by game basis within the TeknoParrot GUI. The capabilities of the game to be modified vary based on the game.

  1. Launch TeknoParrot -> Install Location\TeknoParrotUI.exe
  2. Select a game on the list -> Configure settings

Enable/Disable Crosshairs

Game settings are done on a game by game basis within the TeknoParrot GUI. The capabilities of the game to be modified vary based on the game.

  1. Launch TeknoParrot -> Install Location\TeknoParrotUI.exe
  2. Select a game on the list -> Configure settings

Lightgun Calibration

Calibration is done on a game by game basis, usually by entering the service menu of a game. You can check/set the service menu key:

  1. Launch TeknoParrot -> Install Location\TeknoParrotUI.exe
  2. Select a game on the list -> Configure Controls
  3. Once Set - load a game and enter the service menu to locate a setting similar to "Calibrate lightgun"

Add RPCS3 (Namco 357/359/369 Games)

Teknoparrot has added support for RPCS3 games including Razing Storm. This provides a simpler setup than the legacy way of patching files to support light guns.

  1. Acquire the games and extract them to a location of your choice (recommended Launchbox\Games\Namco 357\)
  2. Open Teknoparrot: Launchbox\Emulators\Teknoparrot\Teknoparrotui.exe
  3. Make sure TeknoParrot is up to date - click the 3 lines top left corner - check for updates - install updates found
  4. Configure RPCS3 - in the same folder (Launchbox\Emulators\Teknoparrot) there should now be a RPCS3 folder. Go into that and run rpcs3.exe. This will take you through a first time config (like installing the firmware downloaded from above). If first time config doesnt trigger and instead you see the gui, just click file -> install firmware and do it manually. Close RPCS3
  5. Back in teknoparrot - Add the games, click the same 3 lines in top left corner of teknoparrot - add games. To find the games easier, click the genre filter and select Namco 357/359/369. Click a game and add (such as Dark Escape 4D).
  6. Back in the library view, click the added game (Dark Escape 4D) and click Game Settings. At the top, select the location where you extracted the game (for example \Launchbox\Games\Namco 357\Dark Escape 4D\dev_hdd0\game\SCEEXE000\USRDIR\EBOOT.BIN). For the General Input API - select RawInput. The other settings you can change as you see fit. Save and go back to library view
  7. Back in the library view, click controller setup. Map your light guns control here. In the Player 1 Light Gun (and P2) make sure to select the correct light gun. Save and close Teknoparrot (this might be fixed but there was a bug where adding controls did not take affect until you restarted the platform).
  8. Reopen teknoparrotui. Start the game by selecting it and click play. The first time startup will take awhile. You can now change your settings further (fullscreen, rendering scale, rendering engiene, etc)
  9. Add to launchbox. Back in the Teknoparrot folder, there is a UserProfiles folder. There should be a new userprofile created here (sort by date to find the newest). Sticking with dark escape it will show as DarkEscape4d.txt. In launchbox, click on the Teknoparrot platform. Click on and drag the DarkEscape4d.txt file onto launchbox. In the import Wizard window that opens, click Rom Files. The Platform should be set to Teknoparrot and Scrape As set to Arcade. Click Next. Emulator should be set to Teknoparrot. Next. Click Use the files in their current location. Click next through the other windows that pop up (or change settings if you want, its just what media/graphics it will download). The game is now imported into Launchbox
